Description
Liberties Restaurant & Bar faces the site of the historic covered marketplace built in the late 1700s. The street was once the hub of commerce in Northern Liberties, an area settled in William Penn's time.
The neighborhood, once known for its many taverns and breweries, is undergoing a renaissance, and many buildings are being preserved and rehabilitated. Liberties is an authentically restored tavern, from its historically accurate façade to its rich walnut interior. The copper and tin ceiling is original to the building, while the rest of the décor has been furnished by our neighbor, Architectural Antiques Exchange. Special features include Philadelphia's most magnificent Victorian Bar, and an Egyptian goddess greeting customers in the entryway.
